Pygame Camp
The Goal of Pygame Camp?
Pygame Camp aims to inspire young women, grades 5-6, to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) by teaching the basics of Python programming through coding games.

Only 20% of computer science majors are women, so we find it of utmost importance to provide young women a greater appreciation for digital programs and programming. Through this program we create a pipeline for young women to find out their passion for science and engineering, and further explore it in other programs such as CTE or this robotics club.

Pygame Camp is a completely free volunteer-led program to which it gives high school students the keys to unlock a better future for women in pursuit of careers in STEM.
How Does Pygame Camp Work?
We encourage high school students to volunteer down by Riverview, to teach elementary girls python through pre programmed computer lessons through Notion and Github.

No programming experience is needed; through Pygame Camp both volunteers and students would build on their skills, and build bright new relationships. Each volunteer instructor would be given the responsibility to teach 5 students. The camp takes 6 weeks. Sessions are twice a week, and last an hour and a half. That is 18 total hours of volunteer work.
This is all completely free, and an awesome opportunity to help women get into engineering and computer sciences.
